Living Will in Concrete Terms!
with Matthias Gockel and Judith Salamander (in German)
Why is it so difficult for most people to make a living will?
The sample living wills you find on the internet try to cover all situations that are theoretically possible - the terminal stage of a fatal illness, an accident, dementia, etc. This is practically impossible and makes the whole thing very vague. It is often unclear what not having certain treatments would mean in practice. No antibiotics? No blood supply? No artificial respiration? It's almost impossible for a medical layperson to assess and decide!
Our alternative
Together with Judith Salamander, palliative care physician Matthias Gockel has developed a new, greatly simplified living will. This living will is aimed at people who are basically healthy and covers all cases that can occur in this situation. This simplifies the whole thing, makes the situations more imaginable and the decisions much easier.
If you become ill later in life, it is advisable to draw up a new individual Patient Decree in consultation with a doctor.
